It comes on a rubber strap with a steel deployment clasp. I like the use of orange stitching, although it is purely cosmetic. Inside the watch is a Sellita SW200 automatic movement that has been decorated. For the price of this watch, I would have liked a bit more. Not that there is anything wrong with the SW200 (equivalent to an ETA 2824), but it can be found in watches at a fraction of the cost of this watch. At the same time, the SW200 does make for a rugged movement in dive style watches. Still, for the price, I feel that there should have at least been a 2892, or equivalent movement. As ETA movements are harder and harder to get, expect to see more from Sellita, and other similar mechanical movement makers.
Welcome to new dive watch brand RedSea. Another Fan-diver brand. Meaning a couple of people who love watches - dive watches - decided they wanted a diver in "their image." So Red Sea was born, and if your tastes are similar to theirs, have they got a watch for you. There are two models, but they are basically the same watch with two dials. The Six Pounder is easily the most avant garde of the two. With its BRM watch style hands - you have an interesting use of borrowed aesthetic for a dive watch. The rear of the watches have a pirate style skull and crossed swords engraving that pretty much makes everything it is applied to a bit more bad ass. Do modern pirates have flags anymore? I wonder. I don't think they have ships they are super proud of anymore...

Case finishing is excellent, and the lume looks quite good:

I've probably never seen more Tissot watches in a single place than at the MotoGP race at the Laguna Seca raceway in Monterey, CA recently (a bit more coverage on that event here). Tissot and MotoGP have been working together for about 10 years I believe, and the connection between the two is profound. You'll find mostly Tissot T-Race and T-Touch watches on the staff of MotoGP, as well as fans from all walks of life. The fans in particular love all the limited edition T-Race watches (of which there have been many). Below you'll find three such watches. One is a limited edition T-Race for MotoGP as a whole, then you'll find the Tissot T-Race Nicky Hayden 2010 limited edition watch (which I wrote about more here). Last you'll find my favorite, a Valjoux 7750 mechanical chronograph based T-Race watch that is killer. Really nicely done in style and finish. Stock marketing images of the watch don't do it justice all all. This is the best timepiece for watch enthusiasts who want to celebrate Tissot's status as the official timekeeper of the popular motorcycle race series. Plus, the mechanical limited edition T-Race model isn't that much, costing around ,800 I believe. Please note and excuse the "red tint" on the sapphire crystals of the watches. There was something reflecting on the crystals when I was taking images. The crystals are not actually red in color.Read more ›
Earlier this year A. Lange & Sohne announced a limited edition collection of (even more) decorated watches as homages of the 165th anniversary of their founder, Ferdinand Adolph (F.A.) Lange. In 1845 Mr. Lange moved from Dresden to the nearby small mountain town of Glashutte. As Lange likes to see it, history was then born!

The pathetic thing was that I wasn’t doing anything exotic. I merely exited my car in Sausalito near a marina across from San Francisco. The wind was viciously quick that day. I had driven over on invitation from IWC to witness the Plastiki. A boat that they are a major sponsor of, and have released a limited edition set of their popular Ingenieur watches for. While I was being bullied by the elements, my view (through the rain), was the completed 60 foot catamaran style boat made mostly out of reused, or recycled plastic bottles - the same type millions of people each day drink soda out of. It looked more impressive in person than in the small cartoonish images I had seen it before as. 12,500 bottles and about four years after the journey to build it started, it was ready for its maiden voyage. The point of the thing? To be a sound vessel both ecologically and functionally.Read more ›
Functions in the watch aren't extensive, but clearly useful. Although the watch really has no dial to speak of, it is actually really easy to read! Seriously. Around most of the dial is a chapter ring made from sapphire crystal, that has gold hour markers applied to it. Then you have the large hands with lume tipped arrows that are quite conspicuous, even given all that is going on in the dial. Sure it is not going to be a pinnacle of "at a glance reading," but you don't need to sacrifice too much function for the form.

I recently learned that Italian Anonimo watches have returned to the US. Sources indicated that until just recently they had abandoned the United States market! Now Anonimo USA is pledging a full scale eruption of "Anonomic" proportions. Well I just made that one word up, but it seems to fit. With a history linked to Panerai and a style that is similar, the brand has a rich and dedicated following with some good looking products. I'd love to get my hands on some soon. Click here for an example of a very long and through homage to their popular Polluce line of watches.
The classic Bell & Ross Vintage and Geneva models are beautiful, and very well designed. They are only marred by their size - which is about 36-37mm in width. These new watches are 41mm wide - that with their thin bezels wear 'large' on the the wrist. In this post I am showing off images of the new Bell & Ross Vintage Original Black, and the yet to be formally announced dressier version of the watch that might be called the Vintage Geneva. I presume this as it is "vintage" in the sense it is a thematic re-issue of a former Bell & Ross watch, and is thematically similar to the Geneva. This means that Bell & Ross might clarify the name later, but "Vintage Geneva" 123 and 126 wouldn't be a terrible name.UPDATE: The watches I presumed would be called "Geneva" pieces are actually going to be called "Bell & Ross Vintage Officer watches."
Aside from this timepiece, a Sparrowhawk (also Sparrow Hawk) is two things (well probably more actually). What I am thinking of is the actual bird family, and the plane (which appropriately borrowed the name from the bird). As the name implies, the Sparrowhawk tends to be a smaller fellow. Though full of gumption, and still a predator being a hawk. One of the most interesting predatory birds out there, the Sparrowhawk is the powerful and agile underdog of the sharp clawed and taloned avian world. The plane is a curious item from the 1930s I believe. A biplane fighter - it was supposed to be very agile and light. The Sparrowhawk was used aboard carriers given how quickly it could get off the ground. Even though the fighter was small, it packed a powerful punch in numbers.Read more ›
